Fetal lung volume and pulmonary artery resistance index for prediction of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome

چکیده
Background: As gestational age grows, the risk of newborn respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) diminishes because lungs are last foetal organs to properly mature. While neonatal RDS does not just occur following preterm births, it is often thought as a disorder premature babies. This study sought determine how prenatal lung capacity and Pulmonary artery resistance index (PARI) affected probability that would occur. Methods: prospective observational was carried out on 200 pregnant women aged 20-35 years, with between 36-40 weeks singleton pregnancy. According outcome patients were classified into two groups: group A: 26 cases noenatal B: 174 without RDS. All subjected 2D ultrasonography 3D ultrasonography. Results: Fetal volume (FLV) significant predictor (AUC: 0.820, p <0.001), at cut off value ≤35, 88.5% sensitivity 68.4% specificity. PARI 1 5 min Apgar score significantly lower in neonates who developed those didn’t (p<0.001). Conclusions: FLV estimated fetal weight measurement using may be reliable non-invasive indicator incidence pregnancies when progression present. for cutoff ≤35 cm3 specificity 68.4%.

Lung Ultrasound (LUS) and neonatal respiratory distress
Introduction Neonatal lung diseases are often a diagnostic dilemma for the clinician due to the low sensitivity and specificity of clinical signs and symptoms. In the last decade of the previous century the use of ultrasound in the diagnostic work-up of adult respiratory diseases became widely used [1,2]. The purpose of this paper is to update the knowledges on LUS in the most common neonatal r...
متن کاملValidity of Spo2/Fio2 Ratio in Detection of Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Introduction: One ofdiagnostic criteria for Acute Lung Injury and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome is pao2/fio2 (PF) ratio 300 for ALI or 200 for ARDS. This criteria requires invasive arterial sampling. Measurement of Spo2/Fio2 (SF) ratio by pulseoximetry may be a reliable non invasive alternative to the PF ratio. Methods and Materials: In a cross sectional study we enrolled 105 sample o...
متن کاملIncreased pulmonary venous resistance contributes to increased pulmonary artery diastolic-pulmonary wedge pressure gradient in acute respiratory distress syndrome.
BACKGROUND Pulmonary artery diastolic (PAD)-pulmonary wedge pressure (PWP) gradient has been shown to be increased in sepsis and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Because pulmonary venous vasoconstriction induced by endotoxemia in sepsis or postcapillary leukocyte aggregation in ARDS or both can increase pulmonary venous resistance (Rpv), it is possible that the elevated Rpv increases...
متن کاملtrigger ventilation in neonatal respiratory distress syndrome
Experience of using an SLE 2000 neonatal trigger ventilator as the sole means of ventilation in 68 infants with respiratory distress syndrome was reviewed. No death or complication was seen in 22 infants with a birth weight above 1500 g. Forty five infants under 1500 g birth weight including 18 infants between 23 and 28 weeks' gestation were trigger ventilated throughout. Six infants died, four...
متن کاملCould mean platelet volume predict developing of bronchopulmonary dysplasia in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome?
Introduction: some studies have suggested correlation between MPV index and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis in adults. Though bronchopulmonary dysplasia is also an inflammatory disease which develops in preterm neonates with Respiratory distress syndrome, we decided to study the possible correlation between the mean platelet volume (MPV) and the occurrence of bronchopulmonary...
